Alone In Dark 5 (better known as Alone In The Dark Near Death Investigation) is an action-survival game by Atari games. Game is the sequel to its predecessors and the fifth installment in the Alone In The Dark game series. Game can be played in both third and first person perspective and player can interchange the camera at any point in the game. Player can skip several parts of the game if he/she stucks. Game's levels also includes puzzles which player must solve in order to proceed in the game. Player can pick up any object to use it as a weapon which enhances the environment of the game. Player can use any object to smash into doors and walls in order to unlock or break them. Player can set fire to objects by just putting them in the flame and that fire can also be extinguished. Player can combine different weapons in order to make a special weapon such as fitting a knife in a machine gun so that it can be used in both melee and firing case. Open wounds appear on players body when he/she takes damages. Player can use a medical spray, bandages when the wounds are too deep in order to heal himself. Player takes control of Edward Carnby who is a paranormal investigator. He has been taken to a building's roof where he is about to be killed. The guards are killed by a mysterious force which allows edward to escape the scene. He comes to know that he has amnesia so he tries to find an exit reluctantly. He witnesses many people who are murdered by a demonic force. During his search, he meets Sarah who is an art dealer. Both of them head to the parking lot where they meet with an old man who says that he knows what's going on in the building. He tells edward about the stone that he helds and that the stone is the cause of this chaos. The stone has been snatched away from edward by crowley who releases the power of the stone. Old man tells edwards that he must follow the path of light in order to over this chaos and destruction before its too late.
